Mr. Ralph Lawrence Monaghan, Sr.

80, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, February 10, 1999 at Carolinas Medical Center.

Mr. Monaghan, Sr. was born in New Orleans, LA on December 4, 1918, son of the late Charles and Rosino Patterson Monaghan. He served in the United States Air Force from 1943 and was discharged in 1945 as a Warrant Officer. Mr. Monaghan, Sr. was instrumental in beginning Little League in Ashley Park. He belonged to Post 262 and Post 353 American Legion. He also worked for WSOC Radio/TV as Office Manager and Accountant from February 1946 until January 1984; 38 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife Willie Mac Monaghan on November 2, 1993.

Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Saturday February 13, 1999 at McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel with the Reverend Charles Long officiating, and also present Father James Devereux. Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday night at the funeral home from 7 until 9 P.M.

Survivors include three sons, Larry and Elaine Monaghan of Lynchburg, VA; Eddie and Teresa Monaghan of Charlotte; Chuck and Tina Monaghan of Charlotte; four granddaughters, one who lived in the home Hillary with her grandfather, and one great grandson.

Memorial gifts may be made to National Kidney Foundation of NC 5970 Fairview Rd., Suite 408, Charlotte, NC 28210. McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte Chapel is serving the family.
