Hey Doris,
I'm so glad you posted. This has been one of the hardest lines to pin down for me. The Elizabeth Steele who recorded this bible is my g-g-g-grandmother. Here is how it links into me.

James Steele m. Elizabeth (this is her)
(had the following kids that i know of)
-Robert Ross Steele b.19-nov-1820, d.9 Jul 1899 (my line)
-Sarah Elizabeth Steele
-Jane Steele

Robert Ross Steele m. Margaret C. Brown
(had the following kids)
-Sarah R
-James F
-William A
-John C
-Robert Ross
-George F
-Margaret Ellen (my line)

Thomas William Davis m Margaret Ellen Steele
(had these kids)
-Margaret Leona
-Robert Jonathan
-Flora Inez
-Burl Lee (my line - my grandfather)
-Young Steele

I have more dates on my website if you want to take a look. I haven't updated it in a while but should get all my newest stuff up there this week.

You definitely have some information that plugs some holes for me. I'll have to dig through everything and digest it a bit. Most of my family still lives in Meck. county and i live in Raleigh now.

A quick note about Elizabeth. I know her husband died around 1835 and according to census records she lived with her Daughter (sarah who married a Hux / Hucks).

Also, you mentioned your husbands family was in the christenbury / ferrell line. I have both of these as well although they are on my fathers side...whereas the steele's are on my mothers side. There could be a link there as well and that info is on my site.

This is probably a long shot but what are your plans for the family bible? I would love to see it or give it a good home if its unwanted.
