Anita, thank you so much for your response! I should tell you that I found Jesse Mendenhall's grandson's tombstone on He was buried in the Bethel United Methodist Church. His name was Absalom Clark. The tombstone says Abslam Clark. I have a feeling that Jesse Mendenhall is buried there as well, along with his "unknown name" wife - in an unmarked grave. I hoping that aforementioned book might have a record of his burial there. I'll look forward to your response.
