William Blackstock Thompson b 1807 Iredell Co lived in McDowell Co at least from when it was formed from Burke & Rutherford, but I'm guessing that he was living in what is now McDowell earlier
He possibly married in what is now McDowell Co---date of marriage is January 1840 to Janette or JEanette Johnston from either SC or Anson Co.
I can't find any record of him, land grants, courts, or even his marriage until 1850 Macon Co Census where it states that his first 3 children were born in McDowell Co
1. Joseph L Thompson b 1842 McDowell,
2. Martha Anne Thompson b 1844, McDowell
3. William Marion Thompson b 1846 McDowell
He moved to Macon Co in 1849 (had a baby boy in 1849 named James Jefferson Thompson) & lived in Macon Co until 1859 when the family left for Sacramento CA for the Gold Rush.
When they moved to Macon Co, they lived with the following families--- Melton's, Whuston's, Hodgin's & Osborne.
Does anybody know anything about Wm Blackstock Thompson, whether he owned land in McDowell or had relatives in McDowell, or have any ideas about how I might find more informaton about him?
Thanks for any help!
