It seems that there are many MODE researchers who are having problems finding common ancestors and links to other MODE lines in and around McDowell County and other areas of the country. I would like to start a MODE DNA project that will focus on the MODE LINES in Western North Carolina, ie. McDowell, Rutherford, and Cleveland Counties. Variants in the MODE name, such as MOAD, MOADE, and MOOD may also be considered if one is sure that these variants ARE or WERE actually MODES.

We must create a database that will help us to find common ancestry. DNA testing may be the only way to do this and is typically done throught the male line, but can be done through the female line at a greater cost. I have been looking for a connection for over twenty years and am growing tired of beating my head against that brickwall. Anyone else frustrated? One known site offers a test for $99.00. We could take this test which may, in the long run, pay for itself many times over.

Let's get this ball rolling.
