Scott, Merry Christmas !
I was wrong about the Biggs in Pitt Co. N.C. 1850 census but there are Cherry familys. There is a James Ward in the 1810 census in both Pitt and Martin Co.s The one in Pitt Co. only has 1 son under 10.
In that digging for roots that you went to had 2 wills 1 for William Ward and 1 for James Ward of Bertie co. go back and check them out. click on thoses names. William didn't have a son James or Luke in his will.
People have Mary Daniels and John Ward Sr. as James Ward parents the James who married Nancy Lanier. and Elizabeth Lanier Married Thomas Daniels and had Mary.
Others say William's son James married Nancy Lanier. but Williams Wards will doesn't list him! Well I'm lost. I'm done until after Christmas. The weather here in Michigan is knee deep in snow and not good for digging for roots. Ha Ha I know all the childeren that are listed for James and Nancy are not their's, like Luke Lafayette Ward his father is Luke Ward and Peter Mayo's daughter. Luke moved from Martin Co. to Pitt Co. after 1800 and before 1812. they Had 4 sons under 10 in the 1810 census and no daughters. I'm lost in Ward Land for now. Janet
