I am not following this line but should like the info I am adding here would have a connection.
From page 292 of 'The Tyson and May Genealogy of Pitt County- (A)Calvin Joyner b. Pitt Co. Dec. 4, 1828 md. Mary Ann Ballard b. Martin Co. Oct. 15, 1824. She, living in Pitt Co. at the time, was dau. of Lemuel and Nancy (Outterbridge) Ballard. This Lemuel ran a store at a main intersection on the Plank Road between Greenville and Marlboro which today bears his name, Ballards Cross Roads.
My interest lies in the fact the first child of Calvin and Mary Ann, Mary Frances, became my father's mother meaning I have a little Ballard Blood in me too.
Sounds like this Lemuel and Nancy could have been the parents of your Joseph Lemuel.
By the way, check the birth year on Winniford Briley. 1849 was 2 years after your Nancy was born in 1847.
