Many stories have been written and told about the killing in Madison County, NC during the Civil War, commonly called the Shelton Laurel Massacre. Some of these stories have been documented and some have not. Many stories are contradictory. I'm attempting to sort out some of the facts from the fiction. There must be some PRIMARY SOURCE documents out there that will help do this.
