Siler Family of Macon County, NC

I have a copy of a typed letter from 1955 from Gilmer A. Jones of Franklin, Macon County, NC to Mr. R.L McNatt of Dresden, TN. The letterhead is of the Jones & Jones law firm of Franlin, NC.
In this letter, Mr. Jones mentions a Siler family reunion that was held the first Saturday in August. He also mentions a book on the Siler family that was published at that time by Mrs. T.W. Porter. Mr. McNatt mailed a photograph to Mr. Siler which I believe was of the gravesite of Thomas Siler, who was killed by Indians in West Tennessee in 1822. I would like to find if anyone is still researching the Siler family and can confirm what I mentioned above. Any help/Suggestions will be appreciated.
