Judy, I'm located in St Louis Mo. I am not familiar with the Scaly Mtn area but I have been in the Otto area looking for Coweeta Baptist Cem where James Thomas & Rebecca Sherrill Long are buried. James left NC for Ga after Rebecca died & he remarried to a Martha Johnson. Sons from his 1st marriage carried him back from Ga to be buried near Rebecca. James Thomas & Rebecca had 6 kids - Louisa Long Smith,Laban Lafayette Long,Martin Luther Long, Elisha Thomas Long, Martha Matilda Long Bradley & Simeon Long. James & Martha's kids are Winfield Scott Long,Richard Johnson Long & Edward Harold Long.
James Thomas & Anthony Long were orphans when their Step-mom brought them from MD to NC. There are 3 half-bros John Long,William Long & Jonathan Long. Martin Luther Long is my line & I really don't know a lot about the other families. Hope this helps you.
