Thanks for your response to my Macon County posting on GenForum. I have traced my family back to Macon County circa 1870. Before that they were in Franklin County GA. This side was rumored to have Cherokee roots but I have not substantiated.

The family name of greatest interest is WILBANKS. They lived in Cartogeechaye. There were 13 children born to J. E. Wilbanks and Sarah (Sallie) Burgess Wilbanks. I have no idea where the boys went after leaving Macon County. I have a few clues on the girls....Martha married Rufus Brown, also of Cartogeechaye and they moved to GA; Lela married John A. Seay; Nannie married John Thaddeus Swanson of Towns County and they headed west, settling in NM then OK. Another girl, Susie, is said to have had six children with six different fathers. I have her tentatively associated with KNIGHT and DILLS men at this time.

I will definitely check out your book. If you can offer any further advice I would be grateful.
