My great-great grandmother, Mary A. "Polly" Williams and her husband Lifus Roberson(Robison/Robinson) lived in and near Ellijay and raised a family from the early 1850s till 1880 when they moved to Yancey County. Polly's mother was Sara Williams, she was a widow but I don't think your Thomas was her husband, maybe an inlaw. My great grandmother, Sara E."Sally" Roberson, may be buried in the cemetery with the Williams family. She died around 1885. As far as I know she never married but her "partner" may have been a Jacobs. My grandfather and his brother were taken to Yancey County after Sally's death.
Mary A. Williams was born December 8, 1830, died April 13, 1908 in Waynesville, Haywood County. This Williams family were possibly Cherokee, I have no proof. Does this ring any bells?
