HENRY M. BASCOM, Highlands, Macon Co., NC, Mayor 1

Looking for any information on Henry Martin BASCOM and his family, who lived for many years in Highlands, Macon Co., NC. Henry built the "Bascom-Louise" guest house in the 1880's, owned a general store and was Mayor of Highlands in 1920. His daughter, Louise Rand Bascom, became a famous playwright & novelist, lived in NYC, NY and married Broadway producer & designer, Watson BARRATT. I would like to know if Henry and his wives (married at least twice, first to Ida May CROCKETT and later to Florence ?, who ran a boarding house in 1900 in Highlands, are buried in the Highlands area.

1. Henry Martin Bascom, b. 31 Jul 1853, Rock Island, Rock Island Co., IL, Merchant. He m. (1) Ida Bruce Crockett, 01 Apr 1879, in Stuart, Guthrie Co., IA, b. ca. 1855, ME, (daughter of ___ Crockett and ___) d. ca. 1885, NC. He m. (2) Florence? ___, ca. 1886, b. May 1858, IN. Henry died aft. 1931.
1.1. Louise Rand Bascom, (daughter of Henry Martin Bascom and Ida Bruce Crockett) b. ca. 1885, NC, Folklorist, Playwright & Novelist. She m. Watson Barratt, b. 27 Jun 1884, NY, Broadway Theater Producer & Designer, d. Jul 1962, NY. Louise died 03 Sep 1949, bur. Highlands, Macon Co., NC.
