NC Archives has a Lincoln Co. will for SAMUEL SWEARINGEN, will written 7 June 1801, probated January 1819. Will names wife Eleanor; daughters Elizabeth, Mary, Nancy, Sarah, Patsy, Anson; sons Samuel, John, Van, Cheek. Executor was the wife. Witnesses to the will were William Whitworth, Mary Whitworth, Thomas Graham, Nancy Graham.

The full name of the son "Cheek" named in the will is Richard Cheek Swearingen.

There is a Lincoln Co. Marriage Bond dated 20 May 1805 for Samuel Swaringham and Ellen Hunt, Samuel Ramsey signing as bondsman. This is apparently the son Samuel.

The Swearingen, Swaringham, Swaringame, name begins to appear in Lincoln records in the early 1790s.

Ann M. Dellinger
