Dear Lisa,

Thanks for your response. Yes, this is the same line. My husband is a great-great-grandson of Thomas Sprott (i.e., a third cousin once-removed of your husband's). Thomas's wife's name was Nancy (Ann) Cline; I had not been aware that Joseph's wife was a Cline as well. Thomas's father Hugh married a cousin named Catherine Sprott, daughter of James Sprott. James was pretty clearly a relative of the Thomas Spratt who was the first white European settler in the Charlotte, Mecklenburg County area, though I don't believe anyone is certain of the exact nature of the connection. The family comes from the parish of Dromore in County Down.

I would be interested in your husband's descent from Thomas and Nancy/Ann. My husband's is through their son Berry Joseph (Berry Joe), who settled in Greenwood, SC. I have corresponded with some other descendants of Thomas and/or of Hugh who have posted messages on this site, and hope to hear from you again.
