[ this is not my family, only post old obit's ].
Gaffney, Jan. 17- GUS ABERNATHY, 73, wholesale merchandise and cotton broker here for more than 40 years , died suddenly this morning at his home on North Limestone St.
Born in Lincoln County, N.C., he came to Gaffney 61 years ago. He served as a member of the city council a number of years ago.
Funeral plans will not be made until some of the children arrive here. His wife died several years ago. He leaves four daughters and five sons. Mrs. Arthur Allen of Gaffney, Mrs. Alan Reynolds,Washington, Mrs. Otis Burkett, Hattiesburg, Miss. Mrs. Herman Walde---- sorry, can't
