Looking for info on the family of my 2xgreat grandmother, Mary Jane Moss b. March 27, 1849 in Waco, Cleveland County, N.C. Her family also lived in Lincoln and Rutherford, she is the daughter of: MARTIN (b. abt 1820) AND ELIZABETH OLIVE Gardner (b. December 7, 1847) who was married on March 4, 1846 in Rutherford, N.C.

Mary Jane's siblings were:
John Franklin b. January 19,1864
Martha Emiline b. October 17, 1852
Charlotte Catherine b. October 17, 1852
Selena Agnes b. October 19, 1861
Huldah Clementine b. October 27, 1858
Sarah S usannah b. March 17, 1847
Wade Hill b. March 28, 1868
Nancy Selina b. April 3, 1866
Enoch Newton b. September 1873
Margaret Elizabeth b. November 19, 1850
Lewis Buchannon b. December 1, 1856
Elizabeth Ann b. december 25, 1854

I believe my 2x great grandmother, was "DISOWNED" by her family because she married a Black man:

Sandy Rominger in Davidson County June 16, 1867.

They had two children:
Edward b. October 27, 1872
Harriet Elizabeth b. 1868

After Sandy died Mary Jane then married Fred Blackburn abt. 1891 in Forsyth County were they had another daughter: Clara Blackburn who died in 1924 from pneumonia.

If you have any information or connection to this line and have heard this story told in your family history please e mail me directly at othompson@juno.com
