I thought I would give you an update. Saturday afternoon, I went to Beth Haven Baptist church cemetery to take a quick run through of Goodson graves. But whoa, what a bonanza! Abner Goodson, Sr. and his wife Lucretia Seitz (Sides) are burried at St Luke's Lutheran (ore Bank) at Pumpkin Center. However, three of his seven children are buried at Beth Haven: (1) John F. Goodson, b. 1-19-1821 d. 12-10-1890 unmarried. His grave is marked with a beautiful tall monument and surrounded by a wrought iron fence. (2)Abner Goodson (Jr.)b. 1834 d. 1899 & wife Emily Virginia Asbury b. 1847 - d. 1939. Emily's father was Henry Asbury, who was the pastor at Rehobeth Methodist Church in Terrell, Catawba Co, NC.So, I expect when Abner and Emily Virgini were burried, it was Mrvin Methodist Church. (3) A surprise was finding the final resting place of Abner and Lucretia's eldest daughter, Mahala(th) b. 12-4-1820 d. 5-14-18?6, wife of Lawson L. Dailey b. 12-22-1810. Two of Abner and Emily's sons are also burried there, (1) James A. Goodson b. 10-6-1872 d. 7-2-1898 ll, but with no evidence of his wife, Callie Sherrill. (2) Samuel Bayard Goodson b. 2-24-1882d. 6-16-1940 and his wife Nannie Poole Goodson b. 4-16-1886 d. 9-30-1956.
Of interest to you and your Dad, Mahalath and Lawson's daughter Sarah was married to William Ballard (no dates at this time). Samuel Bayard and Nannie's daughter Frances Sue married Lewis Ballard, Jr. (no dates at this time)
Again thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I'll keep an eye out for other Ballard - Goodson connections. I know there are a couple.
