Samuel JARRETT was a schoolteacher and a farmer. 1761 and 1762 tax records for Macungie
Township PA list Samuel as single; therefore, it seems unlikely that Samuel had another family
before he came to North Carolina. Of the 250 acres of land he purchased from his brother
Daniel, Samuel sold 3.5 acres on 11 Jan 1797 to John Yoder and John Hefner, who were
trustees for the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, (now located in Catawba County).

Samuel married Sousanna WEAVER from Lincoln Co, NC (b~ 1758/68, daughter of Jacob
WEAVER and Johanna Margaretha HERBOLD), in Lincoln Co, NC. Sousanna died in Lincoln
Co, NC sometime after 1829. A map included in the Spiegel Family History (published in North
Carolina 1788) shows the original plot of land Daniel Jarrett purchased and then subdivided in
1774. The map shows that the 250 acre section belonging to Samuel Jarrett was divided,
according to his will, for four of his five children. A 58 acre section was willed to his daughter,
Margaret Jarrett; a 73 acre section was willed to his daughter, Anna Maria Jarrett; a 55 acre
section was willed to his son, John Jarrett; and a 62 acre section was willed to his daughter,
Sarah Jarrett. It was also noted on the map that his son, Jacob Jarrett, had already received a
portion of land which his mother had received from her father, Jacob Weaver, as her share of his
       estate.
