I am still looking for the parents and place of birth for James Thompson. He married Martha Abernathy 27 June 1796 Linclon CO. N.C. She was the daughter of John "Fiddler" and Susannah Abernathy. I have most of the information on Martha, back to the original Robert Abernathy of Scotland but am lacking James ancestors. James and Martha moved to Cape Girardeau MO. early 1800's. James and Martha's son Lawson/Lauson was my great great grandfather and married Mary (possibley last name Ratteree) from TN. Lawson and Mary's son was also named Lawson/Lauson who married Nancy Mitchell as his second wife. Lawson and Nancy's daughter Ada C. Thompson was my grandmother. The children of James and Martha were Royal born 1798 married Jane Wallace, , Elvira born 1801 married Joseph D. Burns, ,Lawson/Lauson born 1805, Mary born 1809 married Thomas Thompson, James N. born 1813 married Caroline Morton, John A. born 1815 married Jane Morton and Martha Gilliland , and Susannah born 1815 married Jesse Mitchell. All James and Martha's children born in N.C. Hope very much to hear from someone with Lincoln CO. N.C. Thompsons that may be related to James. Virginia
