Hello Hershel!

It's been a while...and since we last communicated, I have discovered that my Knox Family Tradition was completely wrong...

My Knox line descends from Captain Patrick Knox, who was killed at the Battle of Ramseur's Mill. Many have speculated that Robert and Patrick were brothers; however, both the paper evidence and the Knox-DNA Project evidence do not support this. Yes, they were kin, but most likely cousins, and not brothers.

In any event, the documentation and analysis of the confusion between these two lines can be found on my "Tale of Two Johns" site -
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~bruckner/knox/index.htm

The site explains in detail how John Knox, the son of Robert Knox and Mary Ewart was confused with my John Knox, who is the proven son of Patrick Knox and Mary Smith.

The good news is that in the discovery process -- 230 years after his death -- I proved my Knox lineage back to Captain Patrick Knox, who is now recognized by the DAR as a New Patriot!
