Looking for the location of the home sites of Garrett Vanzant and Samuel Biggerstaff who both came to what became Lincoln Co. at an early period, most likely (I think) in the 1750s when it was considered part of Bladen Co. Understand that both lived along South Fork River, with at least Vanzant near "the long shoals" according to one deed from the era. Presumably that's the same area as the modern unincorporated community of Long Shoals. The Garrett I'm looking for is the father, who also had a son by the same name who becomes prominent in the records by the 1770s. I've found a number of old deeds, but none of them is clear enough in references to landmarks to help me understand where each of these early settlers lived.
