You are correct in stating that in estate divisions you will find the property being titled in the name of the husband of an heir, rather than in the woman's name. When you look at the deed for the estate of division of John Robinson the heirs named in the division are: John Robinson William Robinson Ann Hager (There is a Lincoln Co. NC marriage bond dated 29 Sept. 1807 for Robert Heaker/Hager and Ann Robinson. The land being deeded in her name tells me her husband is probably deceased. There is a Lincoln Co. estate file at the Archives for Robert Hager 1821) William Hager (There is a Lincoln Co. marriage bond dated 28 Mar. 1824 for William B. Hager and Frances Robinson) Silas Scarborough (There is a Lincoln Co. marriage bond dated 5 April 1821 for Silas Scarborough and Martha "Patsy" Robinson) John Riley (While there is no Lincoln marriage bond for John Riley, the 1839 deed from Book 38, p. 89 confirms his wife as Elizabeth Robinson, daughter of John and Hollenbury Robinson) James McLure (I found no Lincoln marriage bond for him) James McComb (I found no Lincoln marriage bond for him) The estate files for John Robinson and Hollenbury Robinson may contain additional information about their children and their places of residence in 1836-37.
