The following should establish proof of your Martha Robinson Scarborough being daughter of John and Hollenbury (Beale) Robinson. This is an excerpt from Lincoln Co. NC Deed Book 36, p. 738. Sept. 4, 1836 William B. McLean, Alex. Gaston, Richard Burch, William Nance, and Richard Proctor, freeholders, summoned and sworn by Lincoln County sheriff to divide land of the late John Robinson of Lincoln Co., a total of 586 acres to be divided among 8 heirs, each heir to receive 73.25 acres. Lot # 1 to Silas Scarborough; Lot #2 to John Robinson; Lot #3 to Ann Hager; Lot #4 to James McLure; Lot #5 to William Hager; Lot #6 to the heirs of James McCombs; Lot #7 to William Robinson; Lot #8 to John Riley. Another deed from Lincoln Co. Deed Book 38, p. 89 further connects the above named heirs to John Robinson and his wife Hollenbury Beale Robinson: Aug. 2, 1839 John M. Riley of Hinds Co., Mississippi to George W. Motz of Madison Co. Mississippi, power of attorney to receive all money and goods due me in right of my wife Elisabeth from the estate of John Robinson, deceased, of Lincoln Co. NC, and from the estate of Holly Robinson, deceased, of Lincoln Co. NC and widow of John Robinson; Elisabeth is the daughter of John and Holly Robinson. There are Lincoln Co. Estate files at the NC Archives for John Robinson 1836 and Hollenbury Robinson 1837, but I do not have copies of those estate files. Ann M. Dellinger Notify Administrator about this message?
