Nixon Monument at Unity Presbyterian Church Cemetery
Posted by: Kenneth Luckey (ID *****6262) Date: March 25, 2008 at 16:29:43

There is a monument located in the cemetery that reads William & Elizabeth Nixon, pioneer family from Charlotte Co. VA 1780. I am assuming that this monument was placed later by someone in the Nixon family since there are only fieldstones located to the right marking the locations of some or all of this family.

The following sons are listed:

John married Sarah Bond

William married Mollie Reid

Robert married Catherine Luckey

James married Sallie Black.

I am mainly interested in the son Robert that married Catherine Luckey, but would appreciate any information on this family. Trying to determine if my Luckey's are the same ones that came from Ireland, PA. VA. Rowan Co. NC and then settled in this area around Mecklenburg and Lincoln Co.
