I'm not sure about others but there was at least one hammersmith among the sons of Michael Butts--Henry Butts was a blacksmith and gunsmith both in North Carolina and after moving to Chambers County AL. He passed the craft on to his youngest son George Washington (Dick) Butts, although it was never his primary occupation. As you perhaps know already there were others in the Butz family in PA and Germany who also were hammersmiths.
