The only Lincoln Co. NC will prior to 1910 for the surname HAWKINS is one for J. R. Hawkins, will written 13 April 1864, probated 19 Oct. 1878; will names "wife, E. C. Hawkins." Will Book 4, p. 190
There are Lincoln Co. estates records at the NC Archives, Raleigh, for the following:
Thomas Hawkins 1795 and Burrell Hawkins 1824
I found the following entry in Lincoln Co. Court Minutes, January Court 1793. "Samuel Hawkins, son of Thomas Hawkins, deceased, came into open Court and relinquished his right of Adminstration on the estate of said deceased. It was therefore ordered that Letters of Administration on the said Thomas Hawkins, dec'd, issue to Elisha Jones."
I also found the following: Lincoln Co. NC Deed Book 20, p. 173, Aug. 8, 1798 John Edwards to Nathaniel Edwards sold 65 acres on west side of the Catawba River, "part of a grant to John Hawkins and gifted by him to his son Matthew Hawkins who sold to John Edwards." The deed from Matthew Hawkins to John Edwards is dated April 2, 1791; Deed Book 18, p. 355. The deed to Matthew Hawkins is recorded in Deed Book 17, p. 24 - July 13, 1790 John Hawkins of Abbeville Co. SC to Matthew Hawkins, land bordering James Hawkins, part of a grant by a North Carolina governor to John Hawkins.
I hope this is helpful.
