Thanks once again, Ann, especially for carrying out this exchange on the Forum. It could be that this information may be of use to future researchers. This bit of information is really eye-opening, but in two ways. This suggests the Beaverdam Creek in question was on the Catawba River and not it’s South Fork. For me even more interesting is the fact that James Reed was sold this land. This would be the son of John and Lettis Reed, witnesses to John Beaty’s will. James and Margaret Beatty, whom I believe was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Beatty, were married on 14 Feb 1793. It seems that this sale may have been something in the way of a dowry. I hope, I’m on the right track. Again, Ann your thoughts would be appreciated.
