Your post read in part: " Able had a brother Wiley. He may be my GGG-Granfather." Message # 1501, Lincoln County, NC Genealogy Forum, page 8.
I have read in other places that a John Roberts had children named Abel and Wiley --as well as others. I do not have and can not find any proof of this information. Based on state and federal census records of several decades, I believe my GG-Grandfather Abel Roberts, was born in NC about 1796-7.
There is a marriage record in Lincoln Co. NC for a John Roberts to an Elizabeth Black in 1797. Again no proof that my Abel Roberts was their child.
My Abel Roberts m. Sarah McGinnis in Lincoln Co. NC in 1818. They moved into GA by 1830 and into AL later. Abel's will is recorded in Cherokee Co. AL, 1869. The two sons of Abel and Sarah (Martin M. and Samuel D. Roberts and at least one dau. Isabella) came to TX about 1881-2 bringing their mother, Sarah McGinnis Roberts, with them. She is buried near Bartlett, Bell Co. TX. I am descended through Martin M. Roberts.
