location of Vanzant pioneer property

Trying to identify exact location of property where early Lincoln County resident Garrett Vanzant (Sr.) lived. Know it was on the South Fork of the Catawba River and some records seem to indicate it was pretty close to the Gaston line. Looking for help with this. Also interested in finding exact date in mid-1700s he first came to this area and whether he married his wife, Mary ???, there or somewhere else. Party of problem in searching records is that what is now Lincoln County kept getting included with whatever new county got created. So in about 50 years it went from New Hanover to Bladen to Anson to Mecklenburg to Tryon to Lincoln, which eventually got carved up to create Gaston and Cleveland as well.
