Somehow I missed your email query to me posted 25 June 2003 seeking info on Christopher Setser being apprenticed to John Butts, Lincolnton hatter. I am sorry I overlooked it. I checked Lincoln Co. NC court minutes 1809-1812 and did not see a reference to Christopher Setser being apprenticed by the court. I also checked what apprentice bonds I have copied in the past at the NC Archives and did not find a bond for Christopher Setser.

There is a Lincoln Co. marriage bond dated 25 April 1814 for Christopher Setser and Susannah Bird, Henry Cline bondsman. The original will be at the NC Archives, Raleigh.

I apologize for not answering your query sooner.
