William Thayer in 1810 Lincoln Co., NC Census and Sally Thayer in 1820 Census

A Sally Thayer, age 45 or greater and a daughter of 16-44 yrs, is listed in the 1920 census for NC in Lincoln County on page 233 roll 83 East of South Fork Catawba River. No other Thayer is indexed for Lincoln county, however a line by line search of the 1810 NC census for Lincoln Co. (roll 4o pg 673 line 7)revealed a William Thayer with a large family including a woman, presumably the wife, of the correct age to be Sally. William's age, >44, would seem to indicate that he was born not later than 1765. I have not found William listed in the 1800, 1820, or 1830 census for Lincoln Co, NC. If Sally was indeed William's wife then I presume that he died between 1810 and 1820, however that does not explain what happened to the remainder of the family, because there were boys of an age that should have still been with their mother in 1820. I note also that there was a William Thayer listed as the son of David Thayer and Rebecca Williams of Rhode Island (IGI Family Record 1675847) who was listed as having died in 1826 with no site listed.

Any information about this family or families or their descendants or ancestry would be appreciated! Don Thayer
