Elizabeth "Betsy" Shetley was the youngest daughter of Jacob Shetley and mentioned in his will. She also witnessed the transfer of his land to his oldest son John in 1798. She and Henry Cobb appear to have had at least one child. She is listed in the 1830 census of Gwinette County, Georgia, page 351, not too far from her brother Peter, and appears to be widowed at this time. I believe her to have died after 1840.
Betsey's father Jacob was in Lincoln County, NC by 1764, perhaps earlier, when he had a survey done for a land grant. The family stories go: he arrived in Philadelphia, spent a short time in York County, PA and then came south. There are a couple of possible men arriving on ships in 1750 and 1751 that may have been him. But, there were Schoettles in York County before that, one documented arrival in 1732. Another Schottle, Christian, who came in the early 1750s said he was born in Wehrstatt in the German Palitine.
