OK lets settle down and see if we can't help each other. I have access to thousands of records in the library and will gladly help but I can not get records in counties before they existed.
Burke County is an old county formed from Rowan County. I have the marriage bond books here at the house of Rowan Co. I, also, have the marriage bond book for Tryon and Lincoln County. James McKisick m. Eliza Huggins on 25 Jan 1827 with Vardry McBee as the bondsman. Polley McKisick m. Ezekial Dickson the 25 Sep 1802 with John Dickson as the bondsman. Incidently, Vardry McBee moved to Greenville, SC.
There were a lot of McKissicks in Greenville, S.c where I grew up.
What you are saying is correct. The record is of Burke County not Catawba. I have the Catawba Cemetery records and will check for you. Maiden is about 8 miles from where I live now.
Presently, I am trying to establish a list of both Whigs and Tories who fought at Ramsour's Mill. What documentation do you have that he fought there and I will make certain his name is included in the list for you.
I will send you a paper showing the dates of the formation of the counties. I can send it as an attachment to an Email or Postal. I can also sent copies of the counties for different years.
Several of us have been working on the documentation of the fact that John Cox married a daughter of Robert Morris. My wife is a Cox descendant. we have the Cox line back to NJ and Long Island. My wife is in the process of documenting the Cox line so she can join the Colonial Dames.
James Wilson had a daughter named Sarah "Sallie" who married James W. Boggs - another of my wife's ancestors. She grew up here but I am a South Carolinian.
I did not study either English or Theatre but Engineering many moons ago. The Navy thought enough of my background to send me to Harvard and then to MIT. So we are both well educated. I, too, have 4 children. One died early. Now we have 4 grandchildren. So let's be friends.
I, too, have an ancestor who fought at Ramsour's mill.
