William DAUGHETY [sic] m. 25 Jan 1855 in Craven to Julia CHARLTON. Bondsman was his brother, Edward DAUGHTY [sic].

Julia appears to have been something of a child bride; when the couple was enum. 1860, she gave her age as 19. Daughter Carrie age 6 is enum. in their household in 1880.

Julia was the dau. of John and Matilda (Pearson) CHARLTON of Craven, who were m. 13 Aug 1828. The surname is occasionally rendered as CARLTON or even SHELTON.

William and Edward are the sons of Ephraim Jr. and Sally (Richardson) DAUGHERTY of Craven, who were m. 9 Oct 1822. This surname is rendered variously as DAUGHERTY, DAUGHETY, DOHERTY, and even DORITY.
