Renee, Here are my full notes. The History of Macon County Georgia tells of DANIEL SHINES HARRISON and a MR. SHINE who came there in 1836 from New Bern, NC. My ggrandmother MARINA MOODY 1839-1915 (dau of LAVINA JONES and WILLIAM MOODY) said that she "left behind" some cousins by the name of HARRISON when her father's family moved in 1856 from Macon County Georgia to Union Parish Louisiana. There is a deed from DANIEL SHINE to BENJAMIN HARRISON in Jones County NC in 1794. Ref. Gwynn, Abstracts of the records of Jones County North Carolina 1779-1868. The History of Macon County Georgia [no date or page, for now, sorry] says "In 1836 DANIEL SHINES HARRISON came with J. A. SHINE from New Berne NOrth Carolina and settled at Travelers' Rest, kkGa., Macon County. The place was then called Bristol. These two families and DAVID JONES and family were the first white citizens of the place. CASSANDRA SHINES born 1788 married JAMES HARRISON born [1786], died 1844. Son DANIEL SHINES HARRISON born 1809, died 1862, married JULIA VAUGHN born 1818 died 1901. They had a son WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON born 26 March 1841 at Old Lanier, County seat of Macon at that time." RNSmithson Note. My MOODY family and brother-in-law FREDERICK JONES born 1800 lived at LANIER 1850s etc. Hope this will help in your search for SHINE family Rulon N Smithson Notify Administrator about this message?
