The furthest back I can go is my great-great grandfather Alexander McLeod, born in 1830, who in 1910 was 80 years old and lived in Johnston County. According to the 1910 Census, he as well as his parents (names unknown) were originally born in Scotland. Alexander was married twice, first wife was Elizur Ann Whitington (married 1855) and their children were Leroy, Ernest, John T (my great-grandfather), Martha and William H. His second wife later in life was named Julia and their children were Hettie R, James and Henry. His son by Elizur, John T. McLeod, lived 1861-1935 and was married to Sara C. Pleasant, also of Johnston County, NC. They had six children: Rosa, Daniel, Early, Rena, John and my grandfather, Dewey Washington McLeod (1898-1951). Dewey and his wife Mary Ethel Johnson McLeod also had six children: Roy, Robena, Thaddeus, Frances (my mother), Tom and Louise. Alexander (born in 1830)appears in the Johnston County Census of 1860. In 1820 and 1830 census there appears a John C. McLeod as well as a Kizeah McLeod, perhaps one was his father? I am trying to trace Alexander's roots back to Scotland.
