Captain John Summers, RWS - Family Reunion

A "Captain John Summers" family reunion in Iredell County, North Carolina is now being planned for Sunday, October 12, 2003.

John Summers was born in 1748 in Maryland. He married Ann (Nancy) Clagett(1753-1845), dau. of Charles Clagett. He was Captain of a Company of Maryland Militia durng the Rev. War. His family relocated to Iredell Co., North Carolina near the close of the Revolution. Captain John Summers died in Iredell County, NC in 1808.

John and Ann Clagett Summers had nine children:
Charles C. Summers, Mary Ann Summers Lazenby, John Summers, Ruth Summers, Basil Summers, Ann Summers Howard, Joseph Summers, Solomon Summers and William Clagett Summers.

There will be a special "Home Coming" Church service and luncheon at the church where Capt. Summers' family attended and where he, and many of his descendants are buried.

After the Church Service and luncheon the graves of Capt. John Summers and his wife will be properly dedicated with an official DAR ceremony, Complete with bagpipes and Revolutonary War militia.

Family history and genealogy sharing will take place in the afternoon by those interested in the Summers extended family.

The events are flexible and subject to change.

All descendants of Captain John Summers are invited to attend. If you know of "Capt. John Summers" descendants please let them know of this event.
