Stephen S. Brinn and Elizabeth Langley

These are my great-grandparents. I need to find information on Elizabeth Langley (b. 1862, d.1942). We have retinitis pigmentosa in our genes and I am attempting to find where it entered our family. Stephen (b. 1858, d. 1929) had 3 sons who became blind (my grandfather) and now my brother (my mom was a carrier). I may be a carrier if the gene is dominant. Also, Stephen's daughter Maude passed the gene on to her daughter who had blind sons. "Rumor" has it that Elizabeth Langley was a full-blooded Indian, of the Chowan Tribe. I haven't been able to locate anything on the Chowan Tribe or anything on her. She may have been from Pantego. Can anyone give me direction on this? Thank you.
