Even though Hertford Co was formed in 1759, the will books dont startt until 1830. THis is because in August of that year a man named Wright Allen, charged on a forgery indictment, set fire to the courthouse & clerks offices in the hope of destroying a fradualent note made on Timothy Ridley -in the end the note was at the clerk house in Murfreesboro.
Anyway that way you didnt find Hertford County listed. Wills prior to 1760 were supposed to be filed with the Secretary of State but since Hertford COunty was just formed - I guess none were saved through that venue. I know of only about 4 wills, probated prior to 1830 that exist.
Wills of Hertford County were transcribed by Sandra Almasy, her books are in the Search Room at the State Library.
Hope that helps dp
ps: the burning of the county is why the court minutes I transcribed are so useful.
