I found my 1809 deed in Waynesville NC which is the county seat of Haywood County. You can look up your deeds at the downtown court house. Drive around to the back of the court house and enter the parking garage there and you can park free. I believe the books with the deeds start around 1808. I hope this is of some help. Tom
