Theri, Thanks for answering. His name was definitely Lanson, 1850 Haywood census, 1880 Jackson census, 1900 Newton county, AR census and his tombstone all give it as Lanson. I need anything you can tell me about him or his family, he seems to be a bit of a mystery man. I can't find him in 1860 or 1870. My father-in-law told me years ago before I really got into genealogy that Lanson was a cousin to his grandmother, Naomi Long. I didn't ask him on which side of the family, and I'd like to know that. Also, I can find no children for him. The only wife I found was on 1900 Newton county census. He was 58, wife Mary was 52 and they had been married 18 years. I don't know if there may have been an earlier marriage. I am also having trouble with the Long family and hoped information on Lanson might give me a clue to them.
Rita
