Forgive my two bits.
Concerning: "Martha Browning was the daughter of Wid Medford and she was also the widow of William Browning that died in 1864."
George Allen Cunningham's wife Martha L. Browning was born on 23 Dec 1879. In 1880 she was one year old with her widowed mother. In 1910, she was with George Cunningham. In 1920, George having died, she was with her second husband in Newport News, Va.and age 42. In 1930, she was age 51 and they had moved back to Waynesville and were living there together. Her second husband was Robert L. Ray.
I don't see how she could be the widow of William Browning. My conclusion is the wife of George Allen Cunningham, Martha L. Browning born 23 Dec 1879, was the daughter of William Browning and his wife Margaret.
George Allen Cunningham's mother was Eliza Medford, daughter of Israel Medford.
If anyone sees this connection in a different way, I would appreciate the correction or verification.
