This is the information I have on who I believe were the parents of Mary L. Turner. She was the d/o William Turner who was a POW and died during Civil War and Nancy Liner. In 1850 C. of Haywood, pg.183
William Turner 24 b. NC
Nancy 24 B. NC
Oma 3 b. NC
Sarah A. 1/12 b. NC
Nancy Turner 60 b. NC

1860 C. of Haywood,pg.342 B Ivy Hill
Wm. Turner 34 B. NC
Nancy 34 b. NC
Adaline 13 b. NC
Sary A. 9 B. NC
Mary L. 7 b. NC
Charley [?] 5 b. NC
Martha J. 3 b. NC
Wm. S. 2/12 b. NC

1870 C of Haywood, pg.195 Jonathan Crk
Nancy Turner 44 B. NC family #124
Mary 16 b. NC
Charley 15 b. NC
William 10 b. NC
Joseph 8 b. NC
Laura 4 b. NC
also on this pg. is David Plott, family # 122 and his wife Sarah who was the d/o Robert Turner d. 1819 and her mother was Nancy Unknown. Robert was the s/o Joseph one of the early large landowner [late 1790-1820] in Ratcliff Cove]. I descend from Joseph's son Josiah thru his son Banister Turner.
I have never been able to establish a connection between the Wm. and Nancy above and my Turner line. I think it is unusual that Nancy and David Plott are so close together on this census of 1860 . Sarah Turner Plott had sisters Margaret [ m. Shadrack Carson,]; Lucinda Elizabeth; brothers John [m. Mary Queen in 1834] and Joseph [m Sarah Tritt in 1834]. All of these were named in the Guardian Bond as minors in 1820. Robert Turner's land was on Richland Creek. I'm not familiar enough with Haywood to know if this would be in the Ivy Hill or Jonathan Crk. area or not. Nancy and the Plotts later census was Ivy Hill.

1880 C. of Haywood, pg. 232C
Sarah Turner Plott 68 is enumerated with son-in-law John H. Boyd which is family # 81
family # 83 is
Nancy Turner 56
Leander C. 24
William L. or T. 21
Jackson A. 17
Laura ? 14
Adaline Leatherwood 34
Margarett L. " 12
James " 10
Lura " 7
Robert " 3 or 5

on pg. 219 D
Ezekial Birchfield 28 b. TN
Mary L. 27 B. NC
Amanda C. 8
Lee T. 5
S. W. Bacates [?] 2

In 1820 C. of Haywood there are two Nancy Turners. The one with five children is widow of Robert and I've always thought the other one with one young male is the mother of the above William, particulary since a Nancy Turner, 60 is in the 1850 census in his household. That is about all I have. Let me know if I can answer any questions or give you any further information. Lucy Brown
