Hi Betty, good to find you here. I wonder in your search
on John Skates if you found anything on my wife's great uncle,
son of Cornelious Skates of Hinds Co, MS, who left MS after he got his inheritance and was last known to be in Fort Worth just before 1900 when he signed papers indicating that his brother
George W. had paid him for his share in the family plantation.
"Uncle John" seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth. He may have been John C Skates (C probably for Corneliius)
