I have a copy of the Annals of Haywood County circa 1935 as well as the Centennial edition dated 1908(original copy.) While Mr. Allen takes credit for the books, you will find in some of the information that it has been submitted by the families. I have read and even contributed to some of the heritage books in the library and you will find in some of them a little selective forgetfulness. Stories are in the ear of the beholder. One that comes to mind is a fact mentioned about four brothers who joined the Civil War on the same day; but what the story does not tell is that they all were captured or deserted.
