George N. Rogers, b. ca 1810 in NC

Am seeking information re George N. Rogers, born ca 1810 in NC. In the 1850 census, George was living in Haywood Co., NC, enumerated as follows:

226/232 George N. Rogers 40 farmer NC
Nancy " 35 domestic "
William " 19 "
James " 17 "
Sarah " 15 "
John " 13 "
George " 10 "
Nancy " 9 "
Thomas " 7 "
Adeline " 2 "
Elizabeth " 2 "

I am especially interested in learning about Sarah, age 15, as I am tying to learn the maiden name of my 2X great grandmother, Sarah, who had children by Jefferson Owens and an unknown Hice/Hise (from 1854 to 1862 in Haywood Co.).

There is no record of marriage in Haywood County for any male Owen/s to a female Sarah. Neither is there a record of marriage for a male Hice/Hise; and there has always been a hush-hush confused state in my family about Sarah.

Sarah was listed in the 1860 census as Sary Owens, widow, with four children (the youngest being my great grandmother): Matilda E; Samantha Adeline; William Thomas; and Sarah Jane. Four are the same names as four of George & Nancy Rogers's children.

Right now all of my findings are theory. I am really hoping someone on this board can help me.

Thank you in advance

Karen Trull Jordan
