Theri, thank you very much for your reply.

Are you aware of any McIntire's / McEntire's / McIntyre's / McEntyre's in Madison county? According to a deposition dated May 1890, James N Davis, Captain of Company B of the 2nd Regiment of the North Carolina Mounted Infantry, states that "he came from Madison County, I knew his father's family before he enlisted".

A William J Lankford, stated in a deposition dated April 1890 that "for ten years just prior to our enlistment we lived about one mile from each other". He also states " We enlisted from the same neighborhod. His mother asked me to look after him as he was then young." I do not know where W J Lankford lived at that time.

Zachary Taylor McIntire enlisted in the above company B on 01 May 1864 at Elexander, North Carolina. This place might be the present day Alexander, Buncombe County, North Carolina.

Any insight you might have is greatly appreciated.
