John H. Russell born 1817 South Carolina, parents/sibling/ where in SC/when first in NC, all unknown???? Was recorded in Haywood Co by 1835. Was given/loaned/paid $100.00 cash on Christmas Day 1835, by William Sitton/Sutton. No record of ever paying it back, or what ever. Was given $100.00 cash on Christmas Day 1836, by William Sitton/Sutton. William Sitton/Sutton died 1838. No one of his heirs attempted to collect, if collection was needed.
Married 1839, to Matilda Cross, of Buncombe Co. Marvel Sutton was the co-bondsman. Moved to Buncombe Co by 1840, living next to Matildas parents, William and Rebecca Cross, and close to grandparents, Joseph Cross Sr and Sarah Cogdill Cross.
Moved to Cocke Co Tenn 1854. Died there 1859.
Do not know what Russell in Sc he belonged to?????
