On the 1880 census, household #11-137, head of household is Joseph Keener Cunningham, age 39, b. N.C., occupation - farmer; wife, Eliza Jane (Medford), age 33, b. N.C., marriage date - Nov. 10, 1865; daughter, Sarah A. "Sallie", age 13, b. N.C.; daughter, Mary Elizabeth, age 12, b. N.C.; daughter, Melvina H. "Vinie", age 11, b. N.C.; son, George Allen, age 6, b. N.C. Perhaps this is the George H. Cunningham you are looking for.

This next part is a long shot in the dark, but sometimes they pan out. A few households away - #11-141, head of household is Margaret Allen Browning, age 40, b. N.C., (Sp. William Browning, 1847-1863, CSA); son, James Earley, age 8, b. N.C.; daughter, Coraetta "Etta", age 1, b. N.C.; daughter, Martha L. "Mattie", age 1, b. N.C. Looks like Etta and Mattie were twins. Could this possibly be the Mattie you are looking for? There is also a note that says the father of James was Joseph Harrison, who was also the father of Harriet Browning living in household #11-138 and Anna Cordelia Browning living in household #11-139. It says that the father of Coraetta and Martha L. was Isreal Wid Medford.
